New Product - Purina Gastric Support

Aspen Johnson

Fall is almost upon us and you know what that means? Horse shows. Lots of horse shows. Okay, I'll be honest, there's always a show going on no matter what time of year it is. Whether it be eventing competitions at the Oregon Horse Center or practice for upcoming Oregon High School Equestrian Teams meets, your horse needs to be on top of his game.

Purina is here to help you. They've done their research and even put all time barrel racer Slick by Design on the bag. Their product? Purina® Outlast™ Gastric Support Supplement. They started researching this product five years ago and it is finally available for the market.

This supplement was brought about by the idea that a horse's stomach should not be below a four, but not above a seven, on the pH scale. Unfortunately, to keep above a four, the horse should have something in his or her stomach at all times. When the stomach is empty, the pH can drop to a level of two. This can lead to a whole issue of things including ulcers, behavioral changes, picky eating and poor performance.

So Purina decided to look into changing that. By using calcified seaweed, it has the ability to buffer the stomach acid and is long lasting as well. Using the recommended feeding dose, this supplement will help keep your horse happy and working.

Luckily for you, this is sold at the Farm Store for $31.50 for a 40 pound bag. This supplement is also included in Purina's Ultium® Gastric Care feed, which is $24.00 per 50 pound bag.
